Script nearly done

I WILL finish this draft before I go to bed tomorrow night! I am going to sit down and not allow myself to do anything else until it is finished. I have been putting off some of the times I was supposed to work on it. Other than that, I need to learn who's who in the Nursing school so I can contact them for video interviews to complete this video. Also, I need to do a little testing of my equipment to get the right settings and calibrations in order. Hasta pronto.

Slow goings

As of this week, there wasn't much to report. I spent some time stitching together a rough script for the video but didn't make it very far. I hope to be able to spend more time next week adding to it so I can make more steps forward. Aloha.

The ball is rolling

This past Thursday morning I met with Mrs. Kim Davey, the wonderful "Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications" in the School of Nursing (SON). To oversimplify her job description, anything to do with media sees her behind it. We meet for about an hour to discuss ideas for this video. Mainly, we looked at the UAB SON's strategic plan which consists of visions, values, priorities, goals, ideas, and objectives. So far, we are shooting for a 10-20 minute video that will properly highlight and encapsulate the above terms. To do this, my mission for this week is to whittle down the plethora of topics and pack as many of them as I can into a draft script before next week. We are aiming for a completed movie by December 1st.

Introduction!

Howdy!

My name is Derek Nelson and I am currently in my 3rd semester at the University of Alabama at Birmingham's School of Nursing ("UAB SON" for short). Since I and 9 other students are in the SON's honors program we have a project this semester to partner with an entity of our choosing so as to serve and learn from them. I haven't met to decide the details yet, but I have the unique opportunity to make a video for the SON. My vision for the video is taking an inside look at the UAB SON to see what opportunities it provides and why someone would want to attend and throw hard-earned dollars at this prestigious institution.

I will be updating this blog throughout the semester describing my stages in production and will culminate the blog with the final product. I hope this video helps you understand how AWESOME the SON is here at UAB as well as realize the plethora of opportunities just waiting for you.
